Join us for a full-day workshop resembling a Civil War school of music, modeled on the School of Practice, Governors Island, New York, circa 1861. Participants will have the chance to learn from some of the best field musicians in Civil War living history.

The event will take place at Adams County Historical Society's Beyond the Battle Museum in Gettysburg, PA.

HarmoniCon embraces our musical and historical heritage by providing an educational weekend for all ages to explore, share and learn the ancient and modern music of the fifes and drums. For ages 11 and up and no historic uniforms required!

The Field Music School Association, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, is supported by the Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine, the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, the Fifes and Drums of Colonial Williamsburg, the Fifes and Drums of York Town, Retro Daddio, and many more sponsors. On this website you will find much information about the history of field musicians; the history of the 19th century Army school of music on Governors Island in NY Harbor; countless resources for fifers, drummers, and buglers; bios of the outstanding instructors and staff who will be leading the two events; registration forms; and guidelines to help you prepare for your arrival and participation. Field musicians ages 11 through adult are welcome, and there are also opportunities for volunteers.
